Conductors Diane Wittry and Anna Edwards teach a week long conducting course on beautiful Whidbey Island, Washington, off the coast of Seattle.  The Pacific Northwest Conducting Institute offers a six day workshop, sponsored by Saratoga Orchestra of Whidbey Island. It will feature generous amounts of podium time for Active Conductor participants, networking events, and special topic discussion sessions geared toward the “business” of conducting. Conductors will participate in a concert at the conclusion of the workshop.  Housing is provided in guest homes for Active participants.

Established in 1945 as the Symphony Orchestra of Bata National Enterprise, the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra has worked with a number of distinguished conductors. The repertoire of the orchestra includes a wide range of symphonic works of different periods and a considerable number of contemporary compositions.

DESCRIPTION:

This 10-day/9-night intensive workshop features epic repertoire and outstanding faculty, as well as a fully professional orchestra.   The Concert takes place in the charming city of Kromeriz. The course includes:

Conducting Lessons and Career Coaching

Diane Wittry is an experienced teacher of conducting and is in demand as a guest conductor, speaker, clinician, and conducting career coach.  She is the author of Beyond the Baton, and Baton Basics, both published by Oxford University Press.  In addition to teaching numerous conducting workshops each year, Wittry has taught Advanced Orchestral Conducting for Masters and Doctoral Students at the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University, New Jersey.  Some of her areas of expertise include:
